Pinterest and you and me and who else?

Tis a lovely Sunday my beauty queen friends!

I'm leaving Las Vegas ( oh can not get the song out of my head...thank you Sheryl Crow)
and going to services at ICLV Summerlin since their head pastors the Goulets were recently speakers at  my home church (Glory of Zion). They were pretty sassy and I liked it so now I'm going to go see how they are at home.

You know sometimes I think behave a bit sassy and out of character when they are out of town since "nobody knows them".

Ok, now down to business. Yes, I am on Pinterest and yes, I am a slug about it. Sorry. Don't even get me started on Polyvore!

So here is a favorite pin of mine, I love shoes. And handbags. And pink lipgloss. Alas, if I were wearing these shoes in particular I would wear red lipgloss.

Wow, we know it is the Fall season when every weekend is jam packed with events and activities.
It's the Emmy's, its the I Heart Radio music festival plus it's gorgeous weather to get out and run and bike!

I am loving the line up for the festival this year, and especially the "LOT" which is an open air double stage addition to the original festival which plays inside the MGM.

Sadie Robertson: NYFW and proms around the world

 Hello Sweetness!
Happy Saturday!
Special thank you to all of you who came out to the makeup workshop at The Stitch Factory yesterday. It was wonderful to meet you! Stay tuned for future events!

Now, I have been sitting on this story idea for a week or more now ever since I saw the beautiful and gracious Miss Sadie Robertson, a Duck Dynasty daughter, in an ad for her own designs for prom dresses.

I approve! I love the modest neckline, attention to detail and the long hem. Two thumbs up!

Sadie Robertson, 16-year-old daughter of “Duck Dynasty’s” Willie and Korie Robertson, made her runwaydebut Sept. 9 at Fashion Week in New York City wearing a black and white polka dot gown from her upcoming collection of prom dresses.

Robertson’s “Sadie Robertson Live Original” collection with designer Sherri Hill is retro-inspired and the dresses are “Willie approved” by her father.

Teenage girls around the country empathized with Robertson while watching her try to find a dress in the “Duck Dynasty” homecoming episode” last year.

Robertson’s line will be available in the spring in more than 500 boutiques. Boutique locations are listed on www.SherriHill.com.

Organic Male Sanitizer: for the Zipper and beyond

 Hello Gorgeous!
Happy Monday to you! Tonight is the Twitter party during Under the Dome for a free Vaseline Spray & Go moisturizer. Be sure and follow @Cherelynn then join in at 9 pm Arizona time ( MST)!

Now, this weekend was the county fair and we went to see the 4-H exhibits, eat some fried food and ride a few rides.

Enter, the Zipper. This is a classic fair ride and one that as a young girl in 4-H showing my lambs in the livestock exhibits at the fair, occupied much of my time in between livestock show judgings. This is my son, the Mancub and he saw the Zipper, and kept asking to ride it. I figured, why not?

In my humble opinion, all fair rides and amusement parks are a hot bed of germs and luckily I packed my sample of Organic Male Sanitizer with me. It's a generous size of 3.38 ounces and it will sanitize your hands with OM4's waterless natural hand sanitizer that is clinically proven effective against e. coli, pneumonia, and staph. A unique botanical blend of antimicrobial and healing ingredients will leave your hands feeling clean and hydrated.

That's good to know because we were going to need sanitizer for other reasons other than the Zipper.

Here we are strapped in and secure for the ride, and Mister Mancub has suddenly voiced some concerns about being "caught in a hamster cage strapped to a metal shaped paperclip the size of a building".

By the looks of this picture you can probably guess the outcome of his first Zipper ride and a trip down memory lane for me. As a young girl, my cousins and I begged the carnival worker to spin us more! This time, as Mancub and I tumbled in the Zipper like socks in the dryer, we were both begging for it to stop!
Thank goodness we had the large size of Organic Male Sanitzer with us. We needed it!

Now, for a little bit more about Organic Male skincare for men.
###

OM4 is designed and formulated exclusively for the unique needs and gender specific issues associated with men’s skin.  Male and female skin differs in several significant ways.
  • Key Difference 1:     Men’s skin is oiler than women’s skin due to the production of testosterone.  As testosterone levels decrease over time, the difference in oil production between men and women lessens, as men naturally transition to drier/mature skin in the late 40’s and early 50’s.
  • Key Difference 2:     Despite male skin being oilier, men in fact have smaller sebaceous glands than women.  Since absorption occurs primarily through the sebaceous glands, differing rates of permeation must be factored into product formulation and in which medium to precisely suspend each OM4 bionutrient.
  • Key Difference 3:     Men’s skin is 20%-30% thicker than women’s skin.  Therefore, male skin, in general, tends to be more age-defiant than female skin.  A key challenge is to ensure proper skin nutrition due to slower rates of absorption.
  • Key Difference 4:     Higher oil production gives rise to a series of male skin conditions which also must be addressed in product formulation.  Blemishes, acne, large pores and ingrown hair require advanced formulation.  Targeted ingredients are incorporated to build “preventive maintenance” for men’s skin into each product.
  • Key Difference 5:     Male skin is more sensitive than female skin for several reasons:
    • Historically, men’s skin has been more exposed to the damaging effects of the environment.
    • Daily shaving weakens the acid mantel, the hydrolipidic film, negatively impacting lubrication and skins natural protective system.
    • Shaving can cause, cuts, nicks, razor burn and/or PFB (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae) or razor bumps.
  • Key Difference 6:     Men’s skin ages differently than women’s skin.  Male skin becomes gradually thinner with age, about 1% per year as opposed to female skin changing texture and color due to decreasing amounts of estrogen.
  • Key Difference 7:     Numerous clinical studies triangulate the fact that men experience higher incidences of skin cancer as compared to women.  Melanoma of the head, ears, face and neck are only second to melanoma of the upper back in men.   Sun Screen is important.
So, what are you waiting for?  Simply identify your skin type and we have a color coded, four-step collection of products for you, exclusively.  See for yourself why OM4 is the men’s line 4 men of the world.

Miss America should have been Miss Kansas Theresa Vail

Good morning Gorgeous!
I love a Monday! Be sure and follow @Cherelynn on Twitter and check in tonight at 9 pm Arizona time (MST) for the Vaseline Spay & Go moisturizer giveaway during the final Twitter party with Under the Dome episode 13!

Now, last night was the Miss America pageant, I do enjoy watching it, but last night many things happened.

First, I do not agree or support the contestants wearing 2 piece bikinis in the swimsuit competition because it's immodest and gives the wrong impression to any young girl watching.

Second, the woman who won, just didn't have the wow factor that I think a Miss America should have. So who has the wow factor?

Miss Kansas Theresa Vail!

She has served in the Army, is a dental assistant in the Army, an expert bow hunter and has tattoos. I love her! I'm so proud of her for the service and sacrifice she has made to the United States. She is the second woman from the Army to ever compete in the Miss America pageant. I wish she would have won.

To note, I did really appreciate when Miss Connecticut Kaitlyn Tarpey championed the beauty of red heads and freckles.

So here is the beautiful Miss Kansas Theresa Vail, who in my opinion should have won the Miss America pageant. No worries to you Miss Theresa, I think there will be greater opportunities waiting for you!

Now, enjoy this interview with Fox and Miss Kansas Theresa Vail.

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/09/13/miss-kansas-theresa-vail-bullied-so-much-nearly-took-my-own-life/

Theresa Vail is an sergeant in the U.S. Army who is a crack shot, can handily skin a deer, is an expert with a bow and arrow, and sports a couple of tattoos. And to top it all off? She speaks Chinese! The 22 year-old blonde beauty is also representing Kansas in the Miss America pageant which airs this Sunday night. (She’s only the second woman from the armed forces to compete in the pageant). Vail took time out from the competition already underway in Atlantic City to talk to FOX411.
FOX411: How on earth did you become involved in beauty pageants?
Theresa Vail: It was actually somebody from my unit who told me that through everything I did, I was a role model and I should really embrace that so I started thinking up ways of how I could really get involved and help people and then it dawned on me that if I happen to win a pageant I could have a state wide voice and really become a role model and hopefully a national voice.
FOX411: What is your message?
Vail: Empowering women to overcome stereotypes and break barriers. We all face challenges in society. We’re placed under certain convictions and we feel we have to stay under them and I want people to know, it doesn’t matter what society says. It doesn’t matter what the quote, unquote rules say. You can do whatever you want, whatever you set your mind to, that’s what I did when I showed my tattoos.
FOX411: Tell me about the tattoos.
Vail: I have two. The Serenity Prayer down my side and the army dental insignia on my left shoulder blade. There’s a big taboo in the pageant, nobody shows their tattoos for fear of losing, but I said, ‘What a hypocrite I would be if I say be all you can be, embrace your individuality, embrace your differences, break barriers, if I couldn’t even do that myself.'
FOX411: You had to change your talent at the last minute.
Vail: I wanted to do archery, I wasn’t allowed. I had to pick up singing. I guess the Miss America organization has an insurance clause against projectile objects.
FOX411: But you’re really accurate right?
Vail: I am! That’s what I told them. In my defense, I’ve never missed anything I’ve tried hitting.
FOX411: You hunt too?
Vail: Yes I do and I’m a supporter of the N.R.A.
FOX411: You were bullied as a child.
Vail: Yes, I was about 10 years old. I’d been bullied pretty much consistently up to that point. We lived in Germany at the time and it got so bad that I nearly took my own life. Thank God it was my Dad who saved me. I remember I didn’t know the words of the Serenity Prayer at that point but I knew what I wanted to say to God, which was, help me find peace in these things that they’re making fun of me for, because I can’t change them, but on the other hand I also prayed for courage to just stand up for myself and change things that I really could. So when I was old enough I knew I never wanted to forget that story because I wanted to inspire people who may be in the same situation. That’s why I got the tattoo.
FOX411: Why did you join the Army?
Vail: My Dad was in for 33 years. I saw the benefit it gave him, serving his country. He had so much pride and I knew I wanted to do the same thing. He always told us the motto, others before self, so that’s what we live for. We live to serve other people.
FOX411: Are you in for life?
Vail: Yes! I just re-enlisted for another six years. The Army will pay for my dental school and then I’ll go on active duty.
FOX411: So you could speak Chinese while shooting a squirrel?
Vail: I could!

NYFW recap: Laura Mercier with Jenny Packham

Well Purty,
NYFW 2013 is officially over and here is a wee makeup set from Laura Mercier with Jenny Packham.
I love, love love the Sterling shadow. I can't wait for Spring, I need this shadow for Holiday. Stat!

Enjoy the recap!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
Jenny Packham - Spring 2014 Collection

Look created by Talia Shobrook for Laura Mercier

Inspired by the exquisite styling of the 1975 cult classic film, “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” Packham’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection represents a “seventies take on austere Edwardian attire.” The makeup look for the show, created by Talia Shobrook for Laura Mercier, further highlights the contrast between the eras, combining a “flush of innocence with a hint of naughtiness.”

Face:  Flawless skin with a youthful glow

·         Talia prepped the skin with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, $32.

·         Next, she applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Sunrise, $24 to the model’s cheekbones.

·         Then, she applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – Oil Free Broad Spectrum SPF Sunscreen, $43 all over the face.

·         She concealed minor skin imperfections using Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $32.

·         Adding the final touch to the skin, Talia applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Radiance, $32 to the T-Zone. This gave the skin a beautiful, illuminated and youthful glow.

Lips: Feminine, rosy lips

Eyes: Subtle lashes allowed the eyes to sparkle

·         Talia used a silver eye glitter that was specially made for this show to accentuate the eyes. For a similar look, apply a thick layer of Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Sterling, $26.
·         Next she filled in the eyebrows using Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil, $22.
·         To complete the look, Talia applied one swipe of Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara, $24 – keeping the lashes very subtle.

NYFW recaps with Alterna and John Barrett

 Hello beautiful-
*Sigh*, well, another NYFW-the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is over and hopefully we will remember what we saw and be ready for some stylish spring wardrobes.  I love this whimsy braid twist and will definitely being wearing it sooner than later!

Here is a recap from Alterna Haircare with John Barrett:

Get the Look: Alterna Haircare for Holmes & Yang Spring 2014
Lead Stylist: John Barrett
September 9, 2013

Hair: John Barrett for Alterna Haircare, using Alterna Haircare products
Designer Inspiration:  For Spring 2014, Holmes & Yang presented classic styles with a variety of textures and lines.  To complement the earthy brown tones of the seductive smokey eyes, I went with an effortless, laid-back look with lots of tousled texture. A wearable-do whether she is headed to an office meeting or about to embark on the ultimate travel adventure”- John Barrett for Alterna Haircare

GET THE LOOK: Tousled texture with loose face-framing strands, evoke your adventurous nature.

·         Prep hair with Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream by applying a quarter size amount throughout sections of your hair

·         Follow with Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo (note: two new scents launching in October – Mango Coconut [Katie Holmes’ favorite] and Sheer Blossom) by spraying a liberal amount throughout the scalp. Use this technique to add texture to your hair and create a starting base. For extra wavy texture, spray Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Spray from the mid-section of hair towards the ends

·         Next, spray Alterna Haircare Bamboo Uplifting Root Blast at the roots while sectioning hair and using a blow dryer aiming towards the scalp to hold the lift. Then, wrap one inch sections around 11/2 curling iron and hold for 15 seconds

·         When done curling the entire head, shake up the curls with your fingers. The messier the better. Scrunch with Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Spray

·         Push hair to deep side part then start French braiding hair from nape of neck twisting and adding sections to the braid till you reach the opposite ear and secure with a clear elastic. Twist and tuck the braid underneath by pinning into place with bobby pins.

·         For a piecier look, pull out a few strands near the face and finish with the Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Micromist for a boost of shine.
